HOW WE STARTED:

Established in April 2005 by Rose Lewenstein and Marianne Permaul, Blue Bud Stage Company aim to produce plays of a high standard, giving opportunities to enthusiastic individuals with a passion for the arts.

The company’s objective is to provide a quality theatrical experience for a wide
audience by working with text from both nationally recognised and new playwrights
to create challenging and entertaining performances, welcoming in particular
young graduates wishing to gain experience within a professional environment.

WHO WE ARE:

 

Rose Lewenstein

Rose is in her third year at the Central School of Speech and Drama studying Performance Arts, having trained previously at the BRIT School for Performing Arts. She works as an actress, director and musician.
Directing credits for Blue Bud include: her own script 'Strippers & Gentlemen' at the ICA, 'Corpsing' at the Hen & Chickens and 'Shakers Re-stirred' at Upstairs at the Gatehouse. Other recent directing credits include: 'Leaving' at the Camden People's Theatre, 'Play on Words' with Three's Company for Edinburgh Fringe 2007, 'Meet Me in the Woods' at the Old Red Lion, 'News Revue' at the Canal Cafe Theatre, a rehearsed reading of 'Jude the Obscure' at Roslyn Hill Chapel and a new writing showcase at the Soho Theatre.
Recent performance credits include: a concert performance of new musical 'Alvaro's Balcony' at Her Majesty's Theatre for Mercury Musical Developments, 'Where the Shadows of the World Appear' at Shoreditch Town Hall and a UK tour of 'Grease Gold'. Performance credits at Central include: a rock opera 'Waiting in the Wings' and piece of new work 'Sitting Forever' in the Embassy Theatre. Film include: an interactive film 'Retribution Denied' and a new comedy pilot.
Rose is currently developing 'Strippers & Gentlemen' into an interdisciplinary site-sensitive performance for Edinburgh 2008.

 

   

Marianne Permaul

Marianne trained at Italia Conti where she attained a BA (Hons) Acting degree. She has just recently finished adapting and directing a modern version of Mary Pix's Restoration comedy 'The Beau Defeated' at the Hen and Chickens Theatre. She also received excellent reviews for her portrayal of Nerissa in 'The Merchant of Venice' at The Theatre Royal Winchester. Marianne is currently working on a comedy show to be taken to Edinburgh and will be directing new comedy 'Pandemonium' later this year.
